Basan Halwa, also known as Gram Flour Halwa, is a popular sweet dish in Pakistan made with gram flour (besan), sugar, and ghee (clarified butter). 

This is an easy recipe:


Ingredients:


One cup of besan (gram flour)


1 cup of sugar


Half cup ghee


Half a cup milk


A quarter teaspoon cardamom powder


Chopped almonds or pistachios for garnishing (optional)


Instructions:


In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat.


Add gram flour and roast it until aromatic and lightly brown while stirring continuously.


After that put in sugar, milk and cardamom powder. Combine all ingredients together.


Cook continuously stirring until it thickens a bit and starts to separate from the sides of the pan.


Remove from heat; add nuts if desired.


Serve warm or at room temperature.


Tips:


Avoid sticky residue by using non-stick cookware.


Adjust sugar to your preference .


Enhance sweetness with a pinch of salt.


As Basan Halwa cools down it thickens so regulate its consistency accordingly. Don’t forget to have fun as you enjoy homemade Basan Halwa!
