Here's a simple recipe for classic chicken biryani:
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
1. Rinse rice and soak for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onions and cook until softened (5 minutes).
3. Add garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, and salt. Cook for 1 minute.
4. Add chicken and cook until browned (5-6 minutes).
5. Add 1 cup water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
8. Cover and cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes or until rice is cooked and fluffy.
9. Garnish with chopped cilantro (if desired). Serve hot and enjoy!
